Using Custom Aliases (Slugs)

Replace the random short code with a readable alias such as short10.app/summersale so people know what they are clicking.

Alias rules

• 3 to 50 characters, letters and numbers only.
• No dashes, underscores, spaces or other symbols — summersale2026 works, summer-sale does not.
• An alias must be unique per domain. If it is already taken on short10.app, the form tells you immediately; the same alias can still be free on your own custom domain.

Setting an alias

1. Go to Dashboard → Links → Create.
2. Paste the destination URL and give the link a title.
3. Type your alias in the Custom alias field. Leave it empty to get a random code instead.
4. If you have a custom domain connected, pick it from the domain selector — the alias is checked against that domain.
5. Click Create. The short URL is shown on the link page, ready to copy.

Good alias habits

Keep aliases short and pronounceable when they will be read aloud or printed (on a QR code, a poster, a podcast). Use a consistent prefix per channel — ig, yt, nl — so your Links list stays scannable. Because the alias is what people share and print, choose it deliberately; you can always change the destination later without touching the alias.
