Password-Protected Links
Put a password in front of any short link so only people you have shared it with can reach the destination.
Adding a password
- Create a new link or open an existing one and click Edit.
- Turn on Password protection in the options section.
- Enter the password and save.
What visitors see
Opening the short link shows a branded password page instead of redirecting immediately. After the correct password is entered the visitor is sent to the destination as normal, and the click is recorded in your analytics.
Brute-force protection
Each IP address gets 5 attempts per 5 minutes. After that the form is locked for that visitor until the window passes. This is enough to stop automated guessing without frustrating someone who mistyped once.
Changing or removing the password
Edit the link, type a new password to replace the old one, or turn the toggle off to make the link public again. Changes apply instantly — there is no cache to wait for.
Tips: share the password through a different channel than the link itself; combine with an expiry date for time-limited access; and remember the password page is served over HTTPS on short10.app or your custom domain.
