UTM Parameters & Campaign Tracking

Use UTM parameters to see which channel and campaign each click came from, both inside Short10 and in tools like Google Analytics.

What UTMs do

UTM parameters are tags appended to your destination URL — utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content. Because they travel with the destination, your own analytics tool sees them too. Short10 also records them and shows a source / medium / campaign breakdown on every link's analytics page.

The UTM builder

  1. On the link create or edit page, open the UTM section.
  2. Fill in source, medium and campaign (term and content are optional).
  3. The parameters are appended to the destination URL automatically — you never have to hand-type a query string.

Saved templates

If you reuse the same combinations, save them at Dashboard → UTM Templates and apply a template with one click while creating a link. Templates keep naming consistent across your team, which is what makes UTM reports readable later.

Campaigns

On the Pro plan or higher, group links under a campaign at Dashboard → Campaigns. Every link created inside a campaign is tagged automatically with utm_source=<channel> and utm_campaign=<campaign slug>, and the campaign page rolls up clicks per channel.

Naming tip: keep values lowercase and free of spaces (newsletter, not Newsletter Jan). Most analytics tools treat differently-cased values as separate sources.
